Data Sources

MyTurboBot's public map combines data from three categories:

  • Community uploads — plant sightings contributed by registered users
  • Atlas of Living Australia (ALA) — open biodiversity occurrence records
  • GBIF — globally shared biodiversity records with machine-readable licences

Source Attribution

All imported records carry source attribution identifying the original data provider, dataset and licence. We do not claim ownership of externally sourced data.

Licence Compliance

We only ingest records that carry valid, machine-readable licences permitting the intended use. Each record's licence type is tracked in our database. We do not use unlawfully scraped content or records where the licence prohibits redistribution.

De-Duplication

Records imported from multiple sources are de-duplicated to avoid inflating occurrence counts. The original source record is always preserved and attributed.

Restricted Data

The following data categories are never publicly visible:

  • Internal research markers and field notes
  • Indigenous and culturally sensitive knowledge
  • DNA, soil and chemical sample data
  • Commercially sensitive records
  • Records with restricted-access flags

Data Retention

Public map data is retained indefinitely for scientific and research purposes. Contributors may request removal of their own uploads at any time. Imported open-data records are retained in accordance with their source licences.
