Acknowledgement
MyTurboBot acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate and the plants we document. We recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Core Principles
- Indigenous knowledge is never public by default. All records containing Indigenous or traditional knowledge are protected from the moment of creation.
- Community-controlled access. Each community determines who may view their knowledge. Access is granted through explicit permission, not assumed.
- Cross-community boundaries. One community's protected records are never visible to another community without mutual consent.
- Informed participation. Communities contribute on their own terms, with full understanding of how their knowledge will be stored, accessed and used.
- Right to withdraw. Contributors and communities may withdraw or modify their contributions at any time.
Permission Levels
Every protected record on MyTurboBot carries a visibility setting:
- Public — visible to all platform users (only with explicit permission)
- Private to contributor — visible only to the person who uploaded it
- Private to community — visible to authorised members of the contributor's community
- Nominated partners — visible to specific project partners approved by the community
- Core admin only — visible only to Remote AI Teams scientific administrators
Structural Protection
These protections are built into the platform's data architecture — not added as optional features. Every record has:
- A cultural sensitivity flag
- A restricted access flag
- Field-level visibility controls
- Community ownership metadata
- Permission audit trail
Research Use
Indigenous knowledge will not be used for commercial or research purposes without the explicit, informed consent of the contributing community. Any research outcomes derived from protected knowledge must acknowledge the community's contribution and comply with agreed terms.
